The end of autumn is the time for hedgehogs to go into their well-deserved winter sleep. To make it as calm and comfortable as possible for them, more hedgehog homes have sprung up in Prologis logistics parks.

This is an extension of our initiative to support small animals and wildlife at our parks. In March, hedgehog houses, insect hotels and bird nesting boxes were created at Prologis Wrocław. At the beginning of autumn, specially prepared houses appeared in eight more of our parks as spaces for hedgehogs to safely spend the winter. A total of 25 ecological wooden houses were put up in Chorzów, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Ruda Śląska, Warsaw, Stryków, Błonie and Teresin.

In line with Prologis’ PARKlife™ initiative, we make sure that the infrastructure of parks is friendly not only for employees, but also for the environment. The use of public transportation is encouraged with stops situated within park, while roofed bicycle shelters and stations for charging electric cars contribute to reducing our parks’ carbon footprint. Hedgehog houses are another part of this nature- and worker-friendly concept.

Hedgehogs’ hibernation period can last until April. So it’s worth remembering to be careful with the rake, as hedgehogs like to hibernate in piles of leaves. If you encounter a hedgehog, don’t give them milk, which is poison to them. Water in a bowl is much better. Find out more about hedgehogs’ nightly exploits in the video.

Whether it’s supporting innovative solutions to save energy, promoting low-emission transportation for our employees and guests, or providing a safe haven for animals, caring for the environment is… Made in Prologis.
