TOMRA Sorting Solutions turned to Prologis to design its new facility at Prologis Park Bratislava, which applied unconventional solutions to deliver a project that is fully customized to the requirements of the company.
TOMRA Sorting Solutions, the leading provider of sensor-based sorting solutions worldwide, in 2014 moved into its new 12,600 square meter build-to-suit facility at Prologis Park Bratislava, which was fully customized to accommodate TOMRA’s production and distribution requirements.
The standalone building with possible expansion space was equipped with the most modern technological solutions allowing for the conservation of energy both in the warehouse and office spaces, which were built to the highest technical standards. Incorporating such sustainable solutions provided a much-improved work environment for TOMRA’s staff.
The BTS solution was for an assembly plant with areas for light production and manipulation. As such, there was an industrial floor in the warehouse area with load bearing capacity of 5 tonnes per square meter and an assembly area with 10 tonnes per square meter. There was also special ramp for truck continuation into the hall.
With a BREEAM accreditation of “Very Good”, the state-of-the-art production and distribution facility features the highest sustainable solutions, such as acrylic skylights covering up to 10% of the roof area; a new transformer to meet higher electric capacity; and smart metering.
As well as choosing Prologis for its exceptional customer service, long development experience and unique partnership approach, TOMRA also appreciated Prologis Park Bratislava for its strategic location, which is in the immediate vicinity of several international transportation routes, including the E75 motorway which connects the park to the pan-European Corridor IV that runs from Germany to Turkey.
